Shurdington Pre-School currently employs 8 members of staff. This includes 7 permanent staff in our Core Team, our Administrator and 3 additional staff on our Relief Team.
All Permanent Staff hold CRB checks and have attended Child Protection Training. Play Leader, Tess, is Designated Safeguarding Lead and Kelly is Deputy Safeguarding Lead. All key personnel hold in-date Paediatric First Aid Training, Child Protection Training and Food Hygiene Certificates. Copies of Certificates from these and other relevant training are available to view in our Training Folder so if you would like to view these, please do not hesitate to ask either Tess or Kelly.
All staff at Shurdington Pre-School attend regular Continuous Professional Development based on new ideas and strategies in the Early Years sector both in Gloucestershire and nationwide.

Tess is our Play Leader having taken on the role in 2017. Tess has Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) and a BA Honours Degree in Child Psychology. She is also our Designated Safeguarding Lead and first port of call for any enquiries regarding all aspects of Shurdington Pre-School. She is also a mum of two.
Kelly is our Assistant Play Leader holding a Level 3 NVQ in Childcare, Learning and Development. Kelly leads Orange Key Group and is our Caterpillar Room Lead as well as our Deputy Safeguarding Lead. Kelly started her journey with Shurdington Pre-School as a parent several years ago, becoming an employee a year later whilst she worked towards her NVQ’s. Kelly’s two sons have both attended Pre-School.
Sam is a past parent who, inspired by rota duties, has now taken up childcare as a profession. She has a Level 3 NVQ in Childcare, Learning and Development and is also our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo). Sam leads Green Key Group in the Caterpillar Room and has 3 daughters.
Dot is our Lead Practitioner for Outdoor Play, and is the Room Lead for Butterflies also leading Blue Key Group. Dot brings a wealth of creativity and musicality to the team. She holds a BEd Honours, has achieved Early Years Teacher Status and previously worked with the Road Safety Team in Gloucester. Dot has 2 daughters.
Penny is a Play Assistant leading the Purple Key Group in Butterflies She holds a Level 3 NVQ in Childcare, Learning and Development and is our Health and Safety Officer: bringing a sense of calm to Pre-School life. Penny has been with us since volunteering at Pre-School when her son attended several years ago. Penny also has two older daughters.
Lynn works on the Relief Team covering for Staff illness and training. Lynn previously worked as Play Leader at Leckhampton Playgroup and has a Level 3 NVQ in Childcare, Learning and Development.
Lisa is one of our Relief Play Assistants, covering for absences in the Core Team. She has a BEd Hons and has two daughters.
Elyn is our new EYITT Student and will be doing her placement with us over the forthcoming school year. Elyn will be in Pre-School every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday bringing fresh ideas and her sunny disposition to our already lovely team.
