Shurdington Pre-School currently employs 9 members of staff. This includes 6 permanent staff and 3 staff on the relief team.

All Permanent Staff hold CRB checks and have attended Child Protection Training. Play leader, Naomi, is Designated Safe Guarding Lead, Morven is Deputy Safe Guarding Lead. All key personnel hold Paediatric First Aid, Child Protection Training certification and Food Hygiene Certificates.  Copies of their certificates from these and other relevant training are available to view in the folder on the signing in trolley.

All staff at Shurdington Pre-School attend regular Continuous Professional Development based on new ideas and strategies in the Early Years sector both in Gloucestershire and nationwide.

Morven is our Assistant Playleader and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) as well as leading Green Key Group in the Caterpillar Room.  Holding a BA Honours in Finance and a Foundation Degree in Early Years, she is also our Lead Practitioner for Communication, Language and Literacy, bringing in many strategies such as Storymaking and Total Communication to support young children’s early speech development. Morven has 5 children of her own and a grandchild!

Kelly is our Assistant SENCo holding a Level 3 NVQ in Childcare, Learning and Development. Kelly leads Orange Key Group and works alongside Morven in the Caterpillar Room. Kelly started her journey with Shurdington Pre-School as a parent 4 years ago, then as an employee a year later whilst she worked towards her NVQ’s. Kelly’s two sons have both attended Pre-School.

Sam is a past parent who inspired by rota duties has now taken up childcare as a profession. She has a Level 2 in Childcare, Learning and Development and plans to start her Level 3 shortly. She is on our Trainee Play Assistant Programme and works with Dot in Blue Group. She has 3 daughters.

Naomi Murray, has been our Playleader since 2008, she has Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) and a BA Honours Degree (First) in Early Childhood Studies. She  is also our Designated Safe guarding Lead and first port of call for any enquiries regarding all aspects of Shurdington Pre-School. Naomi is also a Lead Practitioner for Gloucestershire Early Years, supporting other settings in the county to achieve Best Practice and an EYTS Assessor/ Occasional Lecturer for the University of Gloucestershire. She is also mum to two girls.

Dot is our Lead Practitioner for Outdoor Play, and is currently working towards her Early Years Teacher Status. Dot works in Butterflies leading Blue Key Group and brings a wealth of creativity and musicality to the team. She holds a BEd Honours, has recently completed her Early Years Teacher Status  and previously worked with the Road Safety Team in Gloucester. Dot also has 2 daughters.

Penny is a Play Assistant leading the Purple Key Group in Butterflies She holds a Level 3 NVQ in Childcare, Learning and Development and is our Health and Safety Officer: bringing a sense of calm to Pre-School life. Penny has been with us since volunteering at Pre-School when her son attended 3 years ago. Penny also has two older daughters.

Lisa is one of our Relief Play Assistants, currently on Maternity Leave covering for absences in the core team. She has a BEd Hons and has two daughters, one brand new and one of school age.

Lynn works on the Relief Team covering for Staff illness and training. Lynn previously worked as Playleader at Leckhampton Playgroup and has a Level 3 in Childcare, Learning and Development.

Becky is our most recent parent to convert to the Childcare profession and she is also on the Trainee Play Assistant Programme. Becky is about to qualify with a Level 3 in Child care, Learning and Development and she works with Penny in Purple Key Group.
