As you may have heard, at the beginning of the holidays we were awarded a grant by GCC to expand our 2 year olds provision (the Caterpillars) and thanks to amazing community support, also came third in the Echo Wish competition! This means that our dream of developing the outside space at the back of the Social Centre is set to become a reality. We plan to develop this space into an outdoor learning area specific for two year olds and be in a position to offer 12 2 yr old places per session rather than the current 8. Morven, Kelly and Nina, our newest member of staff will run the Caterpillar room planning the sessions specifically for our youngest children. Rather than operating as one group as we currently do, the Butterflies and Caterpillars will then run to their own routine and activities, though usually returning to playing together in one of the gardens after lunch. We feel this will enable Pre-School to meet the local demand for two year old spaces without impacting on the quality of learning experiences for the older children nor having unrealistic expectations of toddlers. We hope to have the new garden in place after half term and ready for the additional children in January 2014. If you would like any further information on this expansion or know of families that might be interested in one of the new spaces, please speak to a member of the team.
